Butter Chicken Recipe Indian Style – Original Recipe Butter Chicken step by step

Just try making this easy and simple Butter Chicken recipe at home and treat your taste-buds with heavenly taste of chicken.


Here is the list of ingredients that you will need for this recipe:

  •  Cooking oil……………………..two tablespoons
  • Butter………………………………………..three tablespoons + one tablespoon for tarka
  • Ginger/garlic paste…………………….one tablespoon
  • Boneless Chicken……………………….half KG
  • Turmeric Powder……………………….Half teaspoon
  • Salt……………………………………………half teaspoon
  • Chinese Salt……………………………….half teaspoon
  • Red Chilly Paste………………………….One teaspoon
  • Onions……………………………………….two (chopped)
  • Water………………………………………..one glass
  • Cornflour…………………………………..one teaspoon
  • Milk…………………………………………..one bowl
  • Cream………………………………………..one bowl


The cooking method for Butter Chicken is really simple. It will require a maximum of half an hour to prepare this recipe.  So if you are in the mood to try some of the Best Chicken Dinner Recipes then Butter Chicken is a must-try for you.

  • Take a cooking pan and add cooking oil in it.
  • Heat the oil and then add butter in it.
  • Add ginger/garlic paste when butter has melted down.
  • When the ginger/garlic paste has turned golden-brown, add chicken in it.
  • Let chicken fry for a while and then reduce the heat, cover the pan and let chicken get tender on steam.
  • Remove the cover of pan after a few minutes and then add turmeric powder in it.
  • Further add salt, Chinese salt, Red chilly paste and stir these items until they mix properly.
  • After stirring it for a few minutes, add onions in it and mix again.
  • Add one glass water, mix and then cover the cooking pan.
  • Let it the curry cook until water dries up and oil starts showing.
  • Take a bowl, add milk in it and then mix cornflour in it. Keep in mind to mix the cornflour properly otherwise small chunks of cornflour will float in the curry.
  • Pour this cornflour mixture in the curry and mix it with cooking spoon. Keep on stirring the curry while pouring this mixture in it.
  • Add one bowl of cream in the curry and then again stir it for a few minutes so it blends properly with the curry.
  • Let the curry simmer for a while, and then add one tablespoon butter on the top of the curry.

Your Indian Style Butter chicken is ready. Serve it hot with mint raita and hot naan!
