Whether it’s a wedding or we are celebrating the success of our exams; every occasion seems incomplete without the tempting sweetness of Gulab Jamun.

So if you want to make your next special occasion really special then you must try making this traditional gulab jamun recipe.

Ingredients

  • White bread…………………………………….8 slices (turn them into powder by blending them)
  • Ghee………………………………………………one teaspoon
  • Milk……………………………………………….one glass
  • Khoya…………………………………………….according to the quantity of Gulab Jamuns
  • Cooking oil……………………………………..for frying the Gulab Jamuns
  • Water…………………………………………….one glass
  • Sugar…………………………………………….one glass
  • Elaichi Powder………………………………half teaspoon

Method

  • Turn the slices of bread into a powder by blending them.
  • Add ghee, milk and the mix the bread powder.
  • Add some more milk if required and then turn the bread powder into properly blended, smooth mixture.
  • Knead the mixture.
  • Cover the mixture with cotton cloth and let it rest for about 20 minutes.
  • Wet your hands with cooking oil.
  • Take a little piece of the mixture, make it flat on your palm, put a piece of khoya in it and then turn it into a ball.
  • Repeat the same procedure with the remaining Gulab Jamuns.
  • Heat the oil and fry the Gulab Jamuns in the oil.
  • Take them out when they turn golden brown.
  • Take a saucepan and pour one glass water in it.
  • Add one glass sugar in it.
  • Let it cook and stir it until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add elaichi powder, let it simmer and then take it off the stove.
  • Pour this sheera (sugared water) in a serving bowl.
  • Add Gulab Jamuns in it and let it cool down.
